Burek duo consists of oud player Andreas Krambias from Cyprus and cellist Maria Doumeni Cronholm from Sweden, with roots in Greece.
The duo met in Thessaloniki in 2019, where their collaboration first started. Their unique combination of instruments creates a distinctive soundscape which is both lyrical and playful. With the melody in focus they create colourful arrangements which are framed by improvisation and intuitive interplay.
The duo makes the most of both musicians' different musical backgrounds - this comes across not only in their choice of repertoire but also in the character they give to the music.
Burek Duo play folk music from Greece, Cyprus and Sweden, as well as Ottoman classical music.

In the same areas as the music originates you can also find the pastry Burek. It varies widely in style and seasoning, just like Burek Duo’s music.”
Burek duo has performed in festivals and concerts in Sweden and Cyprus (Gothenburg folk festival, World sessions, Konsthallen lokstallet, Strömstad Kyrka etc.) and in Cyprus at Ayia napa mediaeval Aqueduct, Fengaros festival and Mikri Arktos.
In 2021 Burek duo released its first album "ISKIOS" which is an independent production.
